Qualifications include a BA (Hons) in English Literature from Queen’s University, Belfast, MPhil in Psychoanalytic Studies from Trinity College, Dublin, PhD in Film Studies from the University of Ulster Coleraine and LNEA Teaching Diploma in Speech and Drama. She has worked on digitisation projects with Northern Ireland Screen, Belfast Exposed Photography, the British Universities’ Film and Video Council, the IFI Irish Film Archive and University College Cork. She was part of the academic steering group for BBC’s Chronicle project, is currently a steering group member for Northern Ireland Screen’s Digital Film Archive and also sits on the advisory panel for Royal Holloway’s AHRC funded research project The History of Forgotten TV Drama and the BUFVC’s AV citation group, which published the first set of international guidelines on audio-visual citation.
Dr Chambers’ research interests include: newsreels, archives, amateur cinema and Irish studies. She is the author of Ireland in the Newsreels (Irish Academic Press, 2012), she has also published articles in the Journal of Film Preservation, the Historical Journal of Film, Radio & Television and has contributed chapters on newsreels and amateur film to several edited collections. She has reviewed books, films and festivals for Cineaste, Irish Historical Studies and Film Ireland.
